OVERVIEW

With STAR/View users can easily view data on-line, generate queries, or export data into standard file formats for use with other desktop applications.

Queries which are created in STAR/View can be saved and reused later, either in STAR/View itself or in STAR/DDE and STAR/C applications.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Access to multiple databases is provided by a pull-down menu from which users select the target database(s). Simultaneous connections to multiple databases is as easy as launching two queries from the pull-down menus.

STAR/ViewÆs interface protocol masks the underlying complexities of network navigation and DBMS languages. Users learn a familiar Windows-based interface, which remains the same regardless of the target DBMS or its location.

Interactive query process allows users to access data with successively more precise queries. Users can fine tune queries or build nested queries to produce only the specific data they need.

Saved queries capability means users can reuse queries without having to reformulate them. Also, saved queries can be used by other HyperSTAR clients (STAR/DDE, STAR/C and STAR/ODBC).

• 5 MB of hard disk for runtimes, 20 MB of hard disk space for development environments.
